simple homemade almond butter – the healthy budget-saving hack you NEED to try!
PSA + must read for almond butter lovers: you can make your own almond butter at home and it’s SO easy! All you need are some almonds, an oven and a high speed blender or food processor (or a friend or family member who has these and who will thank you for introducing them to homemade almond butter too!)
I love making almond butter at home because you know exactly what you are getting without any unnecessary additives or oils. Homemade almond butter is also more sustainable than traditional store-bought alternatives because you can buy almonds in bulk and don’t have to waste on the packaging / processing / delivery process etc.
Almond butter is a great snack – pair it with some sliced apples, on top of some banana or stuff it in some dates and it’s *chef’s kiss* amazing 🙂 It’s also a staple in many vegan dessert recipes (like cookies, protein balls, granola bars… you name it!) so I love having some at the ready!
It’s also so cool to see almonds turn into something that’s creamy, dreamy and oh-so delicious too 🙂

Equipment
- 1 high speed blender or food processor I love my Ninja Kitchen high speed blender! So important to use a high quality blender or food processor as there is a *risk* yours could break if it wasn't built to handle really tough ingredients like roasted nuts
Ingredients
- 3 cups almonds or however much you want! I would recommend using at least 1 cup to make your time worth it 🙂
Instructions
- Spread almonds evenly on large baking tray
- Roast for 10 mins at 350F/180C
- Remove almonds and let cool a little (at least 5 minutes) before blending in a high speed blender or food processor. I love my Ninja Kitchen blender – the butter took about 3-5 minutes using this! Be careful not to put the almonds in a blender that's not super powerful as they could damage it – and we would be really sad if you couldn't make smoothies anymore 🙁
- Store in a jar in the fridge and enjoy! 🙂
